Monthly Children's Chess Tournaments 2025/2026

Two cycles/tournaments will be held at the same time:

• Cycle up to 10 years (2015 and younger)
• U15 cycle (2010 and younger)

Tournament dates

Tournaments will be held once a month, Mondays, starting on at 16.30.

• Saturday, 29 November 2025, at 10.00
• Monday, 12 January 2026, at 16.30
• Monday, 2 February 2026, at 16.30
• Monday, 2 March 2026, at 16.30
• Monday, 6 April 2026, at 16.30
• Monday, 4 May 2026, at 16.30
• Monday, 8 June 2026, at 16.30

System:

• Swiss system, 7 stakes
• Pace of play: 8 minutes + 3 seconds/turn
• The tournament is considered FIDE Accelerated Rating
• The results are added together to an annual cycle of seven (7) monthly tournaments

Right of access:

• U10 tournament (2015 and younger)
• U15 tournament (2010 and younger)

Applications:             

Pre-registrations are accepted via google formsa or by email: events@sah-ljubljana.si at the latest two days before the tournament. All players can enter on the day of the competition, but will have to pay a higher entry fee.

Confirmation of registration must be settled by 16.15. Round 1 starts at 16.30 - we start exactly (subsequent entries are possible up to the 3rd round, where the player starts with 0 points). In case of payment of the entry fee for the whole cycle, the pre-entry will be automatically taken into account for all tournaments in the cycle.

Entry fee:

• 10 € for members of the club Tajfun-ŠK Ljubljana
• 15 € for non-members
• 20 € late entries and entries on the day of the competition

Special offer: discount for single purchase of registration fees for the whole cycle:

• 40 € for members of Tajfun-ŠK Ljubljana
• 60 € for non-members

Transfer details:

The entry fee is payable no later than two days before the tournament to the account of the Ljubljana Chess Club, Glavarjeva 16, 1000 Ljubljana, Slovenia; IBAN: SI56 6100 0002 6825 115 (Delavska hranilnica d.d., BIC of the bank SWIFT code: HDELSI22), to the reference SI00 2026100. Subsequent payments can only be made on the day of the competition.

PRIZE:

Medals for the top three first-place finishers and the top three girls + practical prizes at each tournament

At the end of the cycle - U15 tournament:

• 1st place - PlayStation 4 PRO 500GB and trophy for the overall winner.

• 2nd place: JBL Charge 5 wireless Bluetooth speaker.

• 3rd place: the JBL Quantum 400 headphones, over-ear, black.

• Best Girl: JBL Tune 770NC wireless headphones.

• 4th-15th place: nice practical prizes.

At the end of the cycle - U10 tournament:

• 1st place - LEGO City - Arctic Research Polar Express Train and trophy for the overall winner.

• 2nd place: LEGO City Heavy Rescue Tow Truck with Crane. 

• 3rd place: LEGO City helicopter for exploring the jungle at base camp.

• Best Girl: LEGO Friends - 42673 Family Holiday Resort.

• 4th-15th place: nice practical prizes.

Each player gets only one prize. 

All participants in the cycle will receive a practical prize at the final tournament - if they have attended the tournament at least once.

Criteria and scoring:

The cycle will include 7 tournaments. For the final ranking in the overall standings, the following shall be taken into account 6 best results (6 / 7 tournaments) chess players in individual tournaments. 

Each chess player in each tournament receives 20 points for participation and additional points according to the ranking achieved in accordance with the scoring system (applicable to each individual tournament). The ranking in each tournament is scored in the overall ranking according to the following system: 

1. place = 100 points
2. place = 80 points
3. City = 70 points
4. place = 60 points
5. City = 55 points
6. City = 50 points
7. City = 45 points
8. place = 40 points
9. City = 35 points
10. place = 30 points
11. - 20th place = 20 points

From 21 - 99. = 10 points

Additional criteria for the overall ranking are: higher/lower number of appearances, total chess points of the player, draw.

All provided by the organiser! Each participant brings his/her own slippers.
