Call for the ”Dragon Awakens” tournament”
One-day chess festival for young people
The chess festival is organised by Tajfun-ŠK Ljubljana in cooperation with the Museum of Contemporary and Modern History of Slovenia.
The festival will take place on Saturday, 13 September 2025, at the Museum of Contemporary and Modern History of Slovenia (Cekinov castle, Celovška cesta 23, Ljubljana).
Two different tournaments are played

10.00 - Children's tournament up to 10 years (2015 and younger)

14.00 - Cadet/Youth U18 tournament (2007 and younger)
Playing time in both tournaments is 7 minutes + 5 seconds/pot for each player-one per game, 7 rounds according to the Swiss system.
Festival programme - Saturday, 13 September 2025

10.00 - Opening of the festival, followed by Round 1 - Children's tournament

10.30 - workshop: parental support

11.30 - guided tour of the chess-themed photographic exhibition (90th anniversary of the ŠZS)

12.15 - presentation of the Chess School 2025/2026 programmes

13.00 to 15.00 - chess workshop for all ages

13.30 - announcement of results and prize-giving 15 minutes after the last round of the children's tournament

14.00 - Cadet-Youth Tournament

15.00 - workshop: parental support

16.00 - presentation of the Chess School 2025/2026 programmes

18.00 - announcement of results and prize-giving 15 minutes after the last round

The list of registered chess players will be published on the tournament website and updated regularly.

12 € for all participants

Payment details:
The entry fee is 12,00 € and is to be paid before the start of the competition to TRR:
SI56 6000 0000 1430 142 (Brainiac64 d.o.o., Čebelarska ulica 20B, 1000 Ljubljana), account opened with LON d.d., Kranj.
All other costs are the responsibility of the performers or their clubs.
Prizes
The total prize fund of the festival is 1.500,00 €.
Prizes will be awarded in the form of practical prizes and are mutually exclusive (only one prize per person). Prizes are only awarded to those who attend the closing ceremony.

Special features
All participants receive a practical gift at the start of the tournament.
The Chess Festival will take place throughout the day and will offer many additional activities for young chess players' companions and youngsters (children's workshops, a seminar for parents, presentations of chess school programmes, a guided tour of a chess-themed photographic exhibition and discussions with the professional team).
