Youth National Chess Championship 2026

From 16 to 22 February, the Miran Jarc Primary School in Ljubljana hosted a full set of this year's junior national championships in standard, accelerated and rapid chess, as well as team competitions for cadets and juniors. Several hundred young chess players from all over Slovenia competed. Representatives of our club stood out and won 22 medals (8 gold, 7 silver, 7 bronze), which put us in first place in the number of medals! Our players showed top fitness, consistency and team spirit in all disciplines, which once again confirms the strength of the club and the bright future of Slovenian junior chess.

DP in standard chess - individual

The Junior National Championship of Slovenia in standard chess was held at the Miran Jarc Primary School in Ljubljana from 16 to 20 February. More than 190 young chess players from all over Slovenia competed in the most prestigious national youth chess event. The young people competed in 12 categories:

On Saturday, 21 February, the Youth National Accelerated Chess Championship, our most massive youth chess competition, took place in Ljubljana. Almost 300 young chess players from all over Slovenia took part in the championship.

The Cadet and Junior Team Championships in Ljubljana marked the end of the week of the National Junior Championships. On the last day, teams competed in the U16 and U20 categories in the fast-paced and accelerated races, and in the U12 category in the accelerated race.
