2nd place in the National Members League

This year's National Members League, which ended last weekend in Radenci, brought Tajfun-ŠK Ljubljana the final 2nd place. The traditional derby against the biggest rival of the last years - ŽŠK Maribor Poligram - was already in the forefront of the chess public's mind before the start of the league. This year, however, the decisive clash took place in the opening first round.

The club's management has decided that this year, talented local players will be given priority over foreign grandmasters. The only reinforcement with two grandmasters from neighbouring Croatia and Austria took place only in the first weekend of play, when a match against Maribor was scheduled. Croatia's top chess player Ivan Šarić secured an important 2.5 points for the club in three games, while Austrian grandmaster Markus Ragger had to concede the only game against Maribor to his opponent.

Our club heroes, who took the main responsibility, showed tremendous fight and achieved the following results:

• GM Matej Šebenik - 4 points from 7 games

• IM Tim Janželj - 3 points in 6 games

• IM Vid Dobrovoljc - 6.5 points from nine games

• FM Maksim Goroshkov - 6 points from 9 games

• FM Rudi Olenik Čampa - 6 points from 8 games

• FM Jernej Kozlovič - 4 points in 5 games

• IM Laura Unuk - 2 points from 3 games

• WIM Zala Urh - 3 points from 3 games (100% result!)
